Overview

I invested 3 weeks in this project, focusing on user and business problem.Though observation and desk research, I identified the Starbucks ordering process as an area with potential for improvement within the application.

01. Problem

How might we make the order process and personalize it to enable users to quickly place their orders?

02. Outcome

I created a new version of the Starbucks app to enable users to quickly place their orders. This will lead to more convenient, personalized experience, and potentially increasing customer retention and loyalty.

I conducted a mini usability testing with 3 participant to evaluate the new features I implemented. Based on their feedback, I refined the user flow to improve clarity and ease of use.

Reflection and learned

01. Practicing Usability testing and A/B testing

Conducting usability testing with a small group allowed me to identify usability issues in the initial stages. While, A/B testing allows for data-driven decisions.

02. Concerning User and Business problem

In this projects, improving the Starbucks app's ordering process meant creating a faster experience for user (user problem) which could lead to increased customer retention and loyalty (business goal)

03. Iterating on existing user flows

While change the flow might be positive, but completely modifiable an existing user flow can be disruptive for user familiar with the system.

About Chingly

Ching Kavisara

Background

Hi, everyone. My name is Kavisara Srisuwatcharee. My friends call me 'Chingly', and you can too.

I am a Product Designer with background in both development and design. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in Thailand, which provided the technical skills for my transition into a UX/UI Designer. I've built almost 4 years of experience through a journey that started as an intern, grew into a freelancer, and led to a full-time role as part of a design founding team in a lean start-up environment.

My day job now

Currently, I am a Design Engineer at tread.fi, a platform focused on algorithmic trading infrastructure and execution which allows me to take a concept from its initial idea all the way through to a shipped product. My process involves applying visual design principles to make confident style choices, while also prototyping interactions in code until the launch phase and iterating rapidly based on established UI patterns and functional requirements. At the same time, I still keep empathy at the core of my work by defining the problem and understanding the user and product first.

Out of work

When I'm not at my desk, I'm likely exploring new places or staying active. I love traveling and playing badminton with friends, but lately, I've been challenging myself by doing Pilates. For more quiet moments, I enjoy coloring, building LEGO sets, reading, taking online courses and keeping up with the latest design blogs.
